The establishment of a cranberry bog

Following up the purchase of unsuitable agricultural lands, cranberry bogs are established with specific criteria around the wetland periphery. Much of the 4000 acres of land is used for watershed, dikes and sand reserve to provide water and road for the 1400 acres in production.

Oswego farm in New York State is the only cranberry farm of its kind. Plants are never submerged by water!

The challenge to meet is huge: to produce and to harvest cranberries in unconventional bogs. Cranberry plants cover the surface of field in similar ways as strawberry plants in a strawberry field, no ditches. Some acres are even planted on slightly rolling lands.
